PromptPad Privacy Policy

Last Updated: November 23, 2024

At PromptPad, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled securely and responsibly. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our prompt organization and sharing tool on iOS and Chrome. By using our services, you agree to the terms laid out in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection

We may collect the following types of information:

a. Personal Information

We collect personal information such as your name, email address, and profile picture when you register for an account using Apple Sign-In (iOS) or Google Sign-In (iOS & Chrome), or when you contact us for support.

b. Prompts and Content

When you create, save, or share prompts using our tool, we store this information in our database. This includes your prompts, titles, descriptions, collections, tags, and your choice to make prompts public or private.

c. Usage Information

We collect information about how you use PromptPad, including prompts created, copied, shared, search queries, and feature interactions. For Chrome Extension users, this includes prompt injection activity.

d. Subscription and Payment Data

We collect information about your subscription status, purchase history, and entitlements through Apple's StoreKit. We do not directly process or store your payment card information—all payment processing is handled by Apple.

e. Device and Connection Information

We collect information about your device, including its type, operating system, browser type (for Chrome), and your IP address.

f. Chrome Extension Permissions

Our Chrome Extension requires certain permissions to function: accessing the active tab (to inject prompts), local storage (to cache your prompts), scripting (to insert prompts into text fields), and clipboard access (to copy prompts). The extension only accesses web page content when you actively choose to insert a prompt.

g. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your user experience, maintain sessions, and gather usage data.

Information Use

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

a. Providing our services

We use your information to provide you with access to PromptPad and its features, including storing and syncing your prompts across iOS and Chrome.

b. Personalization

We use your information to customize your experience and present content relevant to your interests.

c. Communication

We use your contact information to communicate with you about updates, promotions, and important announcements.

d. Support

We use your information to respond to your inquiries and provide technical support.

e. Research and Development

We may use your prompts to improve our features and develop new functionality.

f. Security

We use your information to maintain the security and integrity of our services.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except in the following circumstances:

a. Public Prompts

When you mark a prompt as public, it becomes visible to other users in our community features on both iOS and Chrome.

b. Service Providers

We share information with the following service providers. These providers access data solely to perform services for us and are bound by confidentiality agreements:

  • Cloud hosting providers: Backend services and infrastructure hosting.
  • Analytics: We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how users interact with our features and improve the Service. PostHog may collect device information, usage patterns, and interaction data.
  • Apple StoreKit: We use Apple's in-app purchase system to process subscriptions. Apple processes all payment information according to Apple's privacy policy.
  • Customer support tools: To provide technical support and respond to inquiries.

c. Authentication Providers

We transmit minimal data to Apple and Google for authentication purposes when you sign in using Sign-In with Apple or Google Sign-In.

d. Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

e. Protection of Rights and Safety

We may share your information to protect the rights, property, or safety of PromptPad, our users, or others.

f. Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the new entity, subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Prompts may be anonymized and retained indefinitely for research and development purposes. When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. This includes encryption of data at rest and in transit, secure authentication through Apple and Google OAuth, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

Our services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third parties. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Any changes to the privacy policy will result in an email to all registered users indicating a change.
